Court User Committee
Courts engage and interact with a wide range of parties or stakeholders: citizens – as parties to proceedings or users of services, civil society organizations, media in their capacity as monitors, lawyers, prosecutors, social services, correctional services, experts, etc. As the courts provides services to a range of stakeholders, they must also provide mechanisms through which these service recipients can submit requests, complaints or suggestions pertaining to the services received. A regular communication between the court and its users provides opportunities for identifying problems and producing solutions for improvement of court services. Therefore, Democracy Plus (D+) and the Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture (ACDC), supported by the USAID Justice System Strengthening Program (USAID/JSSP), are organizing Court User Committees (CUC) in three Basic Courts: Prizren, Mitrovica and Ferizaj, to provide recommendations to the respective courts so as to improve the quality of judicial services, while increasing civic engagement.
